Delusional nutjob = Cindy Sheehan

This woman is nuts, completely crazy! I'm sorry but I can't take anymore coverage of this whack-a-do anymore.

Just read this post over at AnkleBitingPundits and you will see what I mean. And Chuck Hagel, come back to us man!

Cindy Sheehan grilled by none other than NPR !

You have got to check out this interview yesterday by Neal Conan of NPR on Talk Of The Nation. It reveals Cindy Sheehan to be nothing but a transparent phony and complete FRAUD who is now using her son's honorable name to promote her own anti-American agenda with the help of the lunatic left groups that are backing her! She can't handle tough probing questions and she refuses to answer questions about her first meeting with President Bush and instead only wants to discuss her upcoming media event schedule. And when it get just too much for her she bails on the interview. She was suppose to be on for one hour but instead hangs up the phone after about 10 minutes of excellent questions and followup questions.

UPDATE: Curious but not surprising, over in the "comments" section at PoliPundit someone noticed the following;

Note how NPR describes their guests.

Guests:

Cindy Sheehan, founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace; mother of Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, killed in action on April 4, 2004 in Sadr City, Baghdad

Gary Qualls, father of Marine Lance Cpl. Louis Qualls, who died in Fallujah, Iraq, on Nov. 16, 2004

Christine Dybevik, mother of Marine Lance Cpl. Gary Van Leuven, who died in Husaybah, Iraq, on April 17, 2004

Sharon Westbrook, mother of Marine Pfc. Jason Poindexter, who died in Ramadi, Iraq, on Sept. 12, 2004

Cindy’s son is proclaimed a victim, the others ar not.

A nice capper after a visit to Crawford

From the AP, realizing his media blunder, Rev Al couldn't get away from Camp Cindy fast enough;
WAXAHACHIE, Texas - A car carrying the Rev. Al Sharpton led sheriff's deputies on a nine-mile chase at speeds up to 110 mph before state troopers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, authorities said.

The civil rights activist called the sheriff's report "ludicrous" and accused the Ellis County officers of "embellishing the story."

"That nine-mile chase is news to me," Sharpton told The Associated Press. "All I know is that the police pulled us over because they wanted to talk to the driver about speeding."

I'm sorry but I can't take this phony nonsense anymore!

It's really getting ridicules down in Crawford. Just look at this phony, media manufactured scene;
First the wide-shot above, which probably won't be featured in the newspapers since it reveals how staged the moment really is and then on the left the one that will get all the play.

You can get the remaining photos from this "event" by going here. I would provide a link to the "You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy" counter-rally that outnumbered Cindy Sheehan's 2-to-1 but remarkably I can't find any in the MSM. But I'll keep trying.

UPDATE: According to the Dallas Star-Telegram 3000-4000 people attended the pro-Bush rally with only 2 arrests for an "attitude thing." Funny but sadly accurate passage in the article;
Milton Pittman of Arlington and Libby Patterson of Fort Worth said they drove to Crawford to show their support for Bush and were amazed by the large crowds. "I think it shows the freedom of speech that we have in America," said Patterson.

Pittman agreed, calling the pro-Bush crowds "very cordial, like regular people," while saying the anti-war demonstrators seemed "confused."

Un-freaking-believable!

Just read Florida Cracker, With Cheese and the Chicago Tribune where the story broke.

The AP's take on this seems to be very sympathetic to the student newspaper.

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The student newspaper at Southern Illinois University was taken in by an elaborate hoax in which a child, tricked into thinking she was playing a movie role, posed as the daughter of a man serving in Iraq, the publication said Friday.

The tale, which stretched over two years, began to unravel last week when the paper, The Daily Egyptian, heard that the "soldier" had been killed in Iraq and subsequent investigations by the student newspaper and the Chicago Tribune exposed that he didn't exist.

Interesting that its not until the newspaper was going to do a feature on the death of the little girls Daddy did they finally decide to do some fact checking. Why wasn't that done after receiving the very first letter. Stupid question. We know exactly why!

And I love this "troubling" comment...
"In the course of checking out the details, a troubling problem appeared: The story wasn't true," The Daily Egyptian wrote Friday in an editorial. "What began as a nightmarish possibility became impossible to deny."

Oh, so thats what extremism is...

From the AP:

The Uzbek government won backing from the country's upper house on Friday for ordering the United States to withdraw troops from the Central Asian nation.

The 93 Senators present voted unanimously for a resolution supporting the government's July 29 order giving the United States six months to vacate the Karshi-Khanabad airbase. The airbase in the country's south has been crucial for U.S.-led anti-terror operations in neighboring Afghanistan.

Observers said the order could be connected to a U.S. decision to join international demands for an independent investigation into a bloody crackdown on unarmed demonstrators in an eastern Uzbek city in May. One of the senators accused the United States of fueling extremism.

Cindy Sheehan is now officially gone over the edge...

She is now speaking to her son in heaven and he is answering her. Surprisingly he is saying the same things about President Bush as she is. Who'da thunk it!
So this is the boy who they say I’m dishonoring by what I do and I know when I get up with Casey, like he went there first before me. When I get up, he’s gonna say, “Good job Mom.” (applause) He’s not going to say, he’s not going to say, “Why’d you make me spin in my grave,” you know. And I can just hear him saying “George Bush you are really an idiot. You didn’t know what you were doing when you killed me. You didn’t know what you were getting into.” And I’m sure Casey’s up there with Ken and all the others and they’re just going, “Wow, did these guys have moms? They didn’t know that this was going to happen when they killed us?”

NYT turns positive story to more bad Iraq news.

If there ever was proof that the NY Times deliberately takes a story of positive news from Iraq and twists into the negative this is it. And how do we know? Well, Jack Kelly called the source for the NY Times story and asked him. Duh! Read this.

Able Danger mention in National Geographic 9/11 special?

A curious mention of what could be the "Able Danger" data mining task force during the National Geographic special on 9/11.
“AT THIS AIR FORCE BASE IN TAMPA (Picture of Entrance Gate to MacDill Air Force Base), MEMBERS OF THE U.S. ARMY SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND ARE REVIEWING AN UNUSUAL CHART THAT REPORTEDLY IDENTIFIES BOTH ATTA (picture ID of Atta shown) AND AL-SHEHHI (picture ID of Al-Shehhi shown) AS LIKELY MEMBERS OF AN AL-QAEDA TERROR CELL OPERATING WITHIN THE U.S. THE OFFICIALS DECIDE THEY CANNOT PASS THIS INFORMATION ALONG TO THE FBI, IN PART BECAUSE THE MEN ARE HOLDING VALID U.S. VISAS AND MAY BE OFF LIMITS FROM INTELLIGENCE GATHERING BY THE MILITARY.” The next segment discussed terrorist training camps in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

This matches precisely with what has been reported, that AD identified Mohamed Atta and three other 9/11 hijackers more than a year before the attacks, but the information is not passed on due to legal reasons. It even mentions the mysterious "chart" that has become the focus of the AD story of late.
Representative Weldon also arranged an interview on Monday with a former employee of a defense contractor who said he had helped create a chart in 2000 for the intelligence program that included Mr. Atta's photograph and name.

The former contractor, James D. Smith, said that Mr. Atta's name and photograph were obtained through a private researcher in California who was paid to gather the information from contacts in the Middle East. Mr. Smith said that he had retained a copy of the chart until last year and that it had been posted on his office wall at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. He said it had become stuck to the wall and was impossible to remove when he switched jobs.

More unreported good news, Army recruitment UP!

If you looked at any major newspaper or website over the last several months it was easy to find a story about the Army falling short of the recruitment goals. The media was gleeful in their reporting of this. However, as reported in the NY Post it seems that the Army has exceeded their goals. Where is the NY Times or the Washington Post or the USA Today on this piece of news. NOWHERE !

Disgusting!

The city supervisors of San Francisco by a vote of 8-3 banned the USS Iowa from becoming a tourist attraction due to their stance on the Iraq war. These idiots of course don't realize that they are offending the very men and women who fought for their freedom during WWII, who fought for them to take this ridiculous stance in the first place. They should be ashamed.

Patrick Sheehan files for divorce

Interesting timing on this filing. Wonder if this statement is actually true.
The thing that matters to me is that my family — Caseys dad and my other three kids — are on the same side of the fence that I am.

Sad but true...

It sad to say but Cindy Sheehan, you are a useful idiot!

"Useful idiots", for those unfamiliar, is a term coined by Lenin which describes those gullable, well-intentioned people in Western democracies who became apologists for the, shall we say, excesses of the new Soviet regime. These days it applies more to people like Cindy Sheehan who are co-opted (or corrupted) by groups like Code Pink and MoveOn.org to push their "Blame America First" policies.

Now I cannot pretend to understand the horrific emotional rollercoaster that Cindy Sheehan has been on. And if all she wanted was a meeting with President Bush to discuss her son's death in Iraq then that would be fine. But what is happening now has been perverted by the lunatic left for their own agendas. Unfortunately for them it appears that, once again, the left and the media has misinterpreted how the American people would react to Cindy Sheehan's "quest." She herself has been her own undoing with comments like these:
From Keith "I'm am so tedious" Olbermans "Countdown";

OLBERMANN: Last question. It‘s pure politics. The nature of the media coverage you‘re getting now, the response from other families of soldiers killed in Iraq, all of that, from the perspective of your protest there, in a way, isn‘t it really better if President Bush doesn‘t meet with you?
SHEEHAN: I would think so, yes. I think it‘s great. And if he would come out right now, it would really defuse the momentum, and I don‘t want to give them any hints. And I think that‘s something they‘ve probably already thought about.

And from an interview with Amy Goodman:

AMY GOODMAN: Cindy, what were your feelings when your son Casey went to Iraq? Are they the same as now? And what were Casey's feelings about the invasion and occupation?

CINDY SHEEHAN: Right. Our family was against it from the beginning. Casey was against it, but he felt it was his duty to go because he was in the Army. And he felt that he had to go to protect his buddies, to be there for his buddies, to be support, and they are brainwashed into thinking that even if they don't agree with the mission, they're brainwashed into just blindly following it. I begged Casey not to go. I told him I would take him to Canada. I told him I would run over him with a car, anything to get him not to go to that immoral war. And he said, “Mom, I wish I didn't have to, but I have to go.”

And I am not so sure that this one helps her cause either;
"We are not waging a war on terror in this country. We’re waging a war of terror. The biggest terrorist in the world is George W. Bush!"
So declared Cindy Sheehan earlier this year during a rally at San Francisco State University.

Sheehan, who is demanding a second meeting with Bush, stated: "We are waging a nuclear war in Iraq right now. That country is contaminated. It will be contaminated for practically eternity now."

Sheehan unleashed a foul-mouth tirade on April 27, 2005:

"They’re a bunch of f*cking hypocrites! And we need to, we just need to rise up..." Sheehan said of the Bush administration.

"If George Bush believes his rhetoric and his bullsh*t, that this is a war for freedom and democracy, that he is spreading freedom and democracy, does he think every person he kills makes Iraq more free?"

"The whole world is damaged. Our humanity is damaged. If he thinks that it’s so important for Iraq to have a U.S.-imposed sense of freedom and democracy, then he needs to sign up his two little party-animal girls. They need to go to this war."

"We want our country back and, if we have to impeach everybody from George Bush down to the person who picks up dog sh*t in Washington, we will impeach all those people."

That I am sure will win her many loony left supporters but how did that work out for John Kerry?

And then we have the joint statement from some family members that they are against what Cindy Sheehan is doing, that hasn't helped her either.

What is not ever reported is that Casey Sheehan REENLISTED in the Army voluntarily to continue to serve his country. So we are being asked to believe that Casey Sheehan reenlisted in the Army to serve a second tour of duty in Iraq even though he was supposedly against the war. Maybe he didn't agree with the war, we will never know. I don't know but I don't like the idea that she is now speaking for Casey as well as dragging his good name through the mud all for the good of her "cause".

And then we have her "statement" requesting privacy for her family. Interesting, she makes a statement asking for the media to respect her privacy all the time drawing even more attention to herself and her "cause". Her referring to the area where she has been camped out in Crawford Texas as "Camp Casey" and her referring to the other moms as "Gold Star Moms" who are joining her, it just leaves me with a kinda creepy feeling.

Finally a Rasmussen poll indicates that the American people are not be drawn to Cindy Sheehan's quest as the media would have is believe.

August 19, 2005--Cindy Sheehan, the grieving mother who maintained an anti-War protest outside of President Bush's ranch, is viewed favorably by 35% of Americans and unfavorably by 38%

Able Danger - I am outraged!

The more I think about how the information gathered by the Able Danger data-mining project, identifying Mohammed Atta and three other hijackers two of which were the pilots, was disregarded by the 9/11 commission the more outraged I become.

After reading the overwhelming amount of analysis in the blogosphere that has been done so far since this story broke I can only come to the conclusion that one reason the Able Danger data was not included in 9/11 report because it did not fit their preconceived notion of how their reports conclusion should read. Their original task was to examine all of the intelligence gathering prior to 9/11 and figure out where the dots were not connected and make sure that the next time they are connected and quickly. Well for God's sakes we have a GLARING unconnected dot that the 9/11 commission just decided to leave out of its report with no investigation whatsoever. Why wasn't this information followed up and investigated more thoroughly.

It appears another reason may have been to protect one of the members of the 9/11 panel, Jamie Gorelick the author of the policy called "the wall." She is responsible for the policy that prevented sharing of information between law enforcement agencies. The Able Danger information was not shared specifically due to this policy. If it had been shared then it is quite possible that the 9/11 attacks may possibly have been prevented.

Another quite an intriguing question is just exactly what documents did Sandy Berger smuggle out of the National Archives and "accidently" destroyed? Apparently there are copies of the documents that ended up in his socks and the 9/11 commission supposedly knows what these documents are. Why doesn't the public know? We have a right to know what Berger was doing and why. He may have been trying to eliminate any information related to Able Danger from being given to the 9/11 commission and we need to know if this is the case.

This is a huge story and needs to continue. We need to know the truth about the 9/11 commission and what haappened with the Able Danger information.

More on "Able Danger"

Over at National Review Onine, TKS has a great roundup of what know and do not know so far in the Able Danger revelations...

Iraq and 9/11, a connection?

With the recent revelations over the 9/11 Report's omission of the Able Danger data-mining project that had successfully identified Mohammed Atta and three of the other hijackers over a year before the 9/11 attacks, the question of an Iraq connection has bubbled to the top once again. Over a Captains Quarters there is very fascinating analysis of this very question as well as other Able Danger information. An absolute must read!

Also check The Anchoress for info and links.

This is filed under "I wish I didn't ask that question"

Cindy Sheehan was on the dreadful Keith Olbermann show last night and near the end of the interview Olbermann asks what he probably thought was a clever question and gets this startling answer;

But, you know, but we‘re here. We‘re committed. We‘re staying the whole month of August, and then we‘re moving to Washington, D.C. And we‘re going to have a 24-hour vigil on his front lawn to keep the pressure on. The pressure is there. Sixty-two percent of Americans want our troops home. And this is giving them a voice to stand up and be counted and say, You know, we want our country back, and we want our troops home.

OLBERMANN: Cindy Sheehan, thanks much for taking time to join us tonight.

SHEEHAN: You‘re welcome. Thank you.

Huh? Did she just say that she doesn't want the President to meet with her? That it would take away some of the media buzz from her cause? I thought her cause was to confront President Bush over the death of her son?

Now compare that to this statement from her family members;
We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation.

The news media has been breathlessly reporting that all Cindy Sheehan wants is to ask President Bush some tough questions about how/why her son lost his life in Iraq. Well it looks like its a little more than that. And as each day goes on and we hear more and more from Cindy Sheehan we begin to see what this woman is really all about. Her family appears to have it nailed with their statement from yesterday.

She made some other incredible statements on the show;
But I‘m not in shock anymore. The Duelfer weapons of mass destruction report came out, the 9/11 commission report came out, the Downing Street memos came out, the Senate Intelligence Committee report came out. These have all come out since my son was killed. They show categorically that my son was—his murder was premeditated, that there was no reason to invade Iraq.

The 9/11 report seems to have come under serious fire of late calling into question the findings of the report, also see here. The Downing Street memos have serious authenticity questions. And the comment about premeditated murder is just lunacy.

9000?

Ted Rall issued this retraction for a cartoon he ran last week that referred to 9000 dead American soldiers in Iraq;
NEW YORK Ted Rall has offered a "retraction" of his Aug. 4 cartoon that cited a 9,000 figure -- rather than the commonly used 1,800-plus -- for the number of American soldiers who have died in the Iraq war.

On Tuesday, Rall wrote in his blog: "I read a story that came off as possible, sourced it using previously reliable informants, and ended up doing a cartoon that I wouldn't have done had I known then what I know now. So this is a retraction of [the] cartoon. Did 9,000-plus soldiers get killed in Iraq? Maybe, maybe not. But as a cartoonist friend of mine points out: The relatives of those hidden 7,000 dead troops sure would be raising hell if the Pentagon were trying to hide them. ... The battery in my BS detector must have been running low last week."

No the batteries were probably fully charged, the problem is the left's willingness to believe and propogate ANYTHING they hear that will make President Bush look bad.

Some Sheehan family members split from Cindy???

In a post over at "it comes in pints" an email claiming to be from some Sheehan family members indicates not everyone in the family is behind Cindy Sheehan's current activities.
Hello again Melanie,

Our family has been so distressed by the recent activities of Cindy we are breaking our silence and we have collectively written a statement for release. Feel free to distribute it as you wish. Thanks – Cherie

In response to questions regarding the Cindy Sheehan/Crawford Texas issue:
Sheehan Family Statement:

The Sheehan Family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving. We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the the expense of her son's good name and reputation. The rest of the Sheehan Family supports the troops, our country, and our President, silently, with prayer and respect.

Sincerely,

Casey Sheehan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

Drudge is now flashing the email.

The email was first sent to Melanie Morgan at KFSO in San Francisco. More here on this email

The Anchoress also has some thoughts on Miss Sheehan as well as Michelle Malkin here and here.

Being the father of two children and step-father to a third I cannot begin to imagine the grief that Cindy Sheehan has endured, but it seems to me the MSM and looney left are exploiting her grief for their own agendas and doing so gleefully which I find to be the most disgusting aspect of this story. Just look at the organizations that she has affiliated herself with, MoveOn.Org and Michael Moore are at the top of the list with Air America happy to talk about something that doesn't refer to the number 875,000. The Crawford Peace House is another and some outfit called Code Pink.

InstaPunk is being brutally honest and you know what? I kinda think he's right. After reading her blog posts at Code Pink I think that Cindy is teetering on the verge of a meltdown. She is calling the area where she is "Camp Casey" and each of her last few Code Pink posts have the title "The Peaceful Occupation of Iraq - Day x." And even if President Bush does agree to meet with her, for the second time, what will she do when she surely gets the answers that she does not want to hear? And this comment from here more recent post is delusional;
As for Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin, Matt Drudge, etc...nothing you can say can hurt me or make me stop what we are doing. We are working for peace with justice. We are using peaceful means and the truth to do it. I guess the truth frightens people. It frightens them so much, they have to resort to telling lies to rebut my arguments. They are despicable human beings and not even worth our concern. Bill O'Reilly had the nerve to invite me on his show again today. But, Dolores Kesterson, another Gold Star Families for Peace member who also had a terrible experience with meeting George and she kicked his butt[O'Reilly].

I don't know what interview Cindy Sheehan watched but Bill O'Reilly, as delicately has he possibly could, made Delores Kesterson look foolish.

9/11 Commission Ignored Key information

The NY Times reports today on what should become a huge story. The 9/11 Commission ignored important information gathered by a secret military unit in 1999 and 2000 called "Able Danger" regarding terrorist Mohammed Atta, the 9/11 lead hijacker.
Mr. Weldon has accused the commission of ignoring information that would have forced a rewriting of the history of the Sept. 11 attacks. He has asserted that the Able Danger unit, whose work relied on computer-driven data-mining techniques, sought to call their superiors' attention to Mr. Atta and three other future hijackers in the summer of 2000. Their work, he says, had identified the men as likely members of a Qaeda cell already in the United States

The team had recommended that Atta and three others be deported but the information was not shared with law enforcement officials because of "the wall" that had been raised even higher by then Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick, who just happened to be on the 9/11 commission. Basically information could not be shared between agencies thanks to the wall and Gorelick issued memo reaffirming that policy back in 1995.

What is so outrageous is that the commission says it disregarded the information because it "did not mesh" with what they knew of Atta. Shouldn't any data gathered concerning the hijackers been thoroughly investigated?
"He wasn't brushed off," Mr. Felzenberg said of the officer. "I'm not aware of anybody being brushed off. The information that he provided us did not mesh with other conclusions that we were drawing" from the commission's investigation.

Mr. Felzenberg said staff investigators had become wary of the officer because he argued that Able Danger had identified Mr. Atta, an Egyptian, as having been in the United States in late 1999 or early 2000. The investigators knew this was impossible, Mr. Felzenberg said, since travel records confirmed that he had not entered the United States until June 2000.

"There was no way that Atta could have been in the United States at that time, which is why the staff didn't give this tremendous weight when they were writing the report," Mr. Felzenberg said. "This information was not meshing with the other information that we had."

Maybe the 9/11 commission should be less concerned with congratulating each other on what a great job they did and focus on investigating every piece of data they are handed. And if not for Congressman Curt Weldon of PA determination to get this information out for the last 3 months we may never had know about any of this.

Some great comments from Ed Morrisey about how this information, if it had been investigated and included in the 9/11 Report, would have completely changed the basis of their findings. So this information was left out for convenience sake.

Check out Michelle Malkin for lots more information and links.

Space Shuttle victim of Environmentalism?

Very interesting article about how Freon is no longer used to make the foam used on the external fuel tanks on the space shuttle and how it has caused problems since the change back in 1997, a more environmentally friendly shuttle.

According to NASA engineer Greg Katnik, the 1997 tile incident was traced to an important change in the shuttle foam. Prior to 1997, the foam was made using Freon. After Freon was banned because of concerns about its potential to deplete the ozone layer, NASA switched to a new kind of "environmentally safe" foam. A 1997 report by Katnik described photographs that showed massive amounts of foam missing from the fuel tank after launch. If the new foam helped protect the ozone layer, its impact would be so tiny as to be immeasurable. The possibility remains that its impact on Columbia could have brought down the shuttle. NASA hopes that recovering key fragments of the left wing will provide vital clues to what happened. Those fragments might be very difficult to find if they are what people saw separating from Columbia over California and Arizona.

But it doesn't rhyme?

Drudge has flashed a line from a new Rolling Stones song called "My Sweet Neo-Con".
"You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite/ You call yourself a patriot. Well, I think your are full of sh*t!... How come you're so wrong, my sweet neo-con."

Sweet! Nice rhyming...

Well if the song is any good who cares what Mick thinks. Maybe they figured they had to create some buzz for the new album and tour.

Political Correctness Gone Wild

This is just plain lunacy!
The NCAA banned the use of American Indian mascots by sports teams during its postseason tournaments, but will not prohibit them otherwise.

The NCAA's executive committee decided this week the organization did not have the authority to bar Indian mascots by individual schools, committee chairman Walter Harrison said Friday.

Nicknames or mascots deemed "hostile or abusive" would not be allowed by teams on their uniforms or other clothing beginning with any NCAA tournament after Feb. 1, said Harrison, the University of Hartford's president.

NY Times investigating adoption records of Judge Roberts children

Drudge is flashing the following, no text at this point!

NY TIMES INVESTIGATES ADOPTION RECORDS OF SUPREME COURT NOMINEE'S CHILDREN

A TIMES insider claims the look into the adoptions are part of the paper's standard background check... Developing...

Absolutely pathetic!

UPDATE: Now some reporting has been added.

Of course why should anyone be surprised, remember this hit piece from the Style Section of the Washington Post?

Flipping the bird, or is it the thumb.

You would think that Nick Coleman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, a member of the mainstream media, you know the guys with the "multiple layers of checks and balances" would make use some of those layers before basing a story on a fake photograph of President Bush flipping the bird to the press back in September 2002. Simply unbelievable. Read more at Powerline.

Hey guess what, Bush is on vacation!

The media continues their fascination with President Bush's vacation schedule today with this piece in the Washington Post. You know what? Who cares!? I guess the MSM does.
WACO, Tex., Aug. 2 -- President Bush is getting the kind of break most Americans can only dream of -- nearly five weeks away from the office, loaded with vacation time.

The president departed Tuesday for his longest stretch yet away from the White House, arriving at his Crawford ranch in the evening for a stretch of clearing brush, visiting with family and friends, and tending to some outside-the-Beltway politics. By historical standards, it is the longest presidential retreat in at least 36 years

Who leaked Plame's name? Maybe nobody did...

The NY Times has an article today from Anne KornBlutt that speculates on a possible explanation hinted at by Robert Novak in his column yesterday.
One of the most puzzling aspects of the C.I.A. leak case has had to do with the name of the exposed officer. Why did the syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak identify her as Valerie Plame in exposing her link to the C.I.A. in July 2003 when she had been known for years both at the agency and in her personal life by her married name, Valerie Wilson
Mr. Novak offered a possible explanation for the disconnect on Monday, suggesting in his column that he could have obtained Ms. Wilson's maiden name from the directory Who's Who in America, which used that name in identifying her as the wife of Joseph C. Wilson IV, a former ambassador.

Well he has been saying this since 2003 except nobody wants to listen since it "get Rove at all costs" in the media these days.

And speaking of the Robert Novak column from yesterday, he sounds a little pissed-off. I can't wait until he can write freely about what really went down with this Plame/Wilson/Rove affair.
I have previously said that I never would have written those sentences if Harlow, then-CIA Director George Tenet or anybody else from the agency had told me that Valerie Plame Wilson's disclosure would endanger herself or anybody.
The recent first disclosure of secret grand jury testimony set off a news media feeding frenzy centered on this obscure case. Joseph Wilson was discarded a year ago by the Kerry presidential campaign after the Senate committee reported much of what he said "had no basis in fact." The re-emerged Wilson is now accusing the senators of "smearing" him. I eagerly await the end of this investigation when I may be able to correct other misinformation about me and the case.
