But how can that be? Dicky said it was so...

Since the MSM hasn't reported it (and they WON'T report it,) take a look at this article in the Washington Times that says two Democratic Senators visited Gitmo and found no torture occuring. Imagine that! Two Democratic senators just back from reviewing U.S. detention facilities and interrogations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, said they saw no signs of abuse and said it would actually be worse to close the facility and transfer the detainees elsewhere. Quick someone tell Dicky Durbin.

For the last time, HE DID NOT SAY THAT!

For all the shreaking and crying the dems are doing after President Bush's speech on Tuesday night they are now, again, trying to convince us all, with the media's help of course, (see here as well), that the administration is trying to link Iraq to 9/11. For the last time, he did not, has not and never did say it. The dems have been saying it and of course the media repeats whatever the dems say to be sure we heard it. They figure the more the repeat a lie it eventually becomes the truth. Democrats on Wednesday challenged President Bush's claim that America must stay the course in Iraq because of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, but his backers said the link was justified. ``I feel compelled ... to set the record straight about why we got into this war,'' said Sen. John Rockefeller of West Virginia, top Democrat on the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee. ``It had nothing to do with Osama bin Laden. It had nothing to do with al Qaeda. It had nothing to do with Sep

AP now can see the future....

This was released on the AP wire . It's an article about the President's speech to the nation on Iraq and was written by Jennifer Loven of the AP. It has a byline of Fort Bragg, NC. The byline would tend to indicate that Ms Loven was in attendance during the President's speech. Only one small problem you see, it was written and released at 4:44PM and later updated at 7:06PM but the speech is not scheduled to begin until 8:00PM. No doubt it was based on excerpts released by the White House but the article is written in past tense. A little misleading? It seems Ms. Loven has a bit of a history, see here and here over at Powerline.

Maybe the article should be called "The Speech I Wish I Was Giving"

John Kerry has a piece in the NY Times today (where else?) which he says is what the President should say tonight in his prime time speech. What is unreal is there is nothing here that the US military isn't already doing but Kerry states it as if no one has thought of any of this. What a dunderhead. It's as if he is still running for President and still saying nothing useful at all. One passage; The administration must immediately draw up a detailed plan with clear milestones and deadlines for the transfer of military and police responsibilities to Iraqis after the December elections. Excellent idea, lets telegraph exactly when we plan to leave. Great idea. Another; The administration must work with the Iraqi government to establish a multinational force to help protect its borders. Such a force, if sanctioned by the United Nations Security Council, could attract participation by Iraq's neighbors and countries like India. Yes we can't go for long without getting th

No deaths or explosions? No prime time coverage.

So three of the four major broadcast networks have yet to decide whether or not they will carry President Bush's speech tonight on Iraq. However the news media seems to think its newsworthy to report every single death, every single attack on ours and the Iraqi troops and NO news of the good things that we are doing in Iraq. No surprise at all. CBS, NBC and Fox all said they would decide sometime Tuesday whether to carry the speech. Concerns centered on the potential newsworthiness of the speech and the fact that it was being given not in the Oval Office but far from Washington.

Rove is right and here is why...

A great editorial from the NY Post shows why the Dems are so upset. Its because Rove is right but they don't want anyone to figure it out. A sample; "Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said: 'We will defeat our enemies.' Liberals saw what happened to us and said: 'We must understand our enemies'," Rove said Wednesday. Right on. The hysteria of his critics proves just how close to home the remarks hit.

Apologize? For what? Speaking the truth?

This is the "lets get the media off of Durbin" move by th Dems. I hope Rove doesn't cave and apologize for speaking what is essentially the truth. I hope Rove comes out to the podium where all the media is gathered, waiting breathlessly to report that Karl Rove has resigned and instead are treated to something like "I have come here today to announce that I have no intention of apologizing or resigning. In fact, the Democrats who have been obstructing the Presidents agenda and who also have been putting our service men in greater peril by making ridicules statements over the past several weeks and months should be the ones who need to apologize. Thank you for coming, no questions." HA! That would be something.

Now where have I heard this before...

Oh, I know...the CBS "fake but accurate" TANG Bush memos ! It seems that the AP uses the same source for the soon to be discredited "Downing Street Memos." You just can't make this stuff up!

The new standard according to Dick

So now it turns out that the FBI memo that Dick Durbin read on the Senate floor as fact has not yet gone through the military justice process and at this point are just allegations. This is from the Senate floor last night ; Mr. WARNER. I would say, Madam President, I served as assistant U.S. attorney for 5 years and dealt with the FBI all the time. I have very high regard for that service. But the Senator knows full well that is just an investigative report by one agent. It is under investigation by the Bureau and by the Department of Defense at this time in the context of many other pieces of evidence. One cannot come to this great forum , which is viewed the world over as one which is known for trying to assert the rights of this country as taking its place in the world, as following due process and principles of our Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights-- and comment to the Senate about some young uniformed person who probably is the subject of that FBI report--until s

No apology needed Dick!

A caller on this mornings Laura Ingraham radio show had a very interesting idea. Republicans should not insist on an apology from Senator Dick Durbin for his comments comparing the US military to Nazis, Stalin and Pol Pot but should instead repeat what he has said, word for word, while saying that this is what the Democratic party believes, this is what the democratic party is all about. After all, Dick is the #2 guy in the Senate so he must have the support of the #1 guy and therefore they are speaking for the entire Democratic party. Doing this would force democrats into a making decision (God forbid) of supporting Dick or distancing themselves from him, either way is a win for Republicans. Thanks Dick!

Whats more important?

Instead of focusing on the good news that US military and Iraqi forces captured the #2 man to Musab al-Zarqawi in Mosul today , we are instead subjected to the insane rantings of Sen. Dick Durbin and his obsession with air conditioners at Gitmo. And to make things even worse we now have this idiotic idea from 2 Republican and 2 Demcratic Senators that President Bush should announce a timetable for pulling our troops out of Iraq. Great freaking idea! Lets broadcast to the entire terrorist world exactly when we are going to pull out. Now what do you think would happen. Hmmm... I bet they would wait until we are gone and then stream over the borders and take the country over therefore making every life lost in the name of defending freedom, US, Iraqi and coalition completely meaningless! They cannot be as stupid as that, can they? Yes the can!

Just for the record, Senator Dick!

Courtesy of Rowan Scarborough of the Washington Times ; Adolf Hitler - About 9 million dead Soviet gulags - About 2.7 million dead Pol Pot - About 1.7 million dead Gitmo - zero dead Gitmo - five instances of Koran abuse or irreverent handling by prison guards Gitmo - 15 instances of Koran abuse by prisoners.

AP "slaps" the President...

Well not really, but they claim that the House has slapped President Bush by voting 238-187 to limit the Patriot Act. And what are they limiting you may ask? The House has decided in their infinite wisdom to limit the ability of the FBI "to peek at library records and bookstore sales slips" which to this point in the life of the Patriot Act the FBI has yet to do. So basically nothing has really changed. Luckily, the good folks over at Powerline have subjected themselves to Gitmo-like torture and provided analysis of the section of the Patriot Act affected by this amendment. A tidbit from Powerline; Given these facts, and given that there has never yet been a case where section 215 has been used to obtain library or bookstore records, today's vote was symbolic, at best. What it symbolized was certain House members' commitment to "civil liberties," which, however, were never threatened.

Senator Dick Durbin wins "Stupidest Senator of the Year" award

Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois has won the "Stupidest Senator of the Year" award for his remarks on the Senate floor last night while debating, of all things, the Energy Bill. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. ..... On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor. If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to pri

So this is torture?

Duncan Hunter appeared on Fox News Sunday on June 12 to debate the supposed torturous activities that occur at Guantanamo Bay. Here is a excerpt of the abusive treatment the detainees are subjected to, and let me just say I am OUTRAGED! And for people that don't understand Guantanamo, that's where we have, for example, the 20th hijacker -- the one guy that we did catch while he was on his way to meet the other hijackers. He was pushed out of the -- caught in the airport, deported. And we picked him up in a firefight in Tora Bora and realized he was the 20th hijacker. We have, for example, Osama bin Laden's bodyguards in this location. Now, how do we treat these people? I sent down yesterday for the menu from Guantanamo so that the average American could understand how we're brutalizing people in Guantanamo, and I've got it right here. For Sunday, they're going to be having -- let me see -- orange glazed chicken, fresh fruit grupe, steamed peas and mushrooms, ri

Torture Prison?

Image
Very interesting catch over at Little Green Footballs on how Google News displays headlines of articles...Check out the last headline displayed, the key word left out of the actual headline is "alleged." And reading the article is quite an experience as well, you get the anti-American slant right away; U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney said the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, which many organizations have come to describe as a sanctioned 'torture facility,' will remain open after pressure from Democrats and republicans alike to close the facility. More information regarding torture at the detention center surfaces almost daily, which U.S. officials are quick to suppress or deny. This is a perfect example of what happens when US media runs these stories of so-called "torture." It ends up undermining our efforts in Iraq and elsewhere putting Americans lives in danger. Congratulations Time, good job!

Finally...

At long last President Bush has finally decided to fight back and the Dems what they really are; “"If leaders of the other party have innovative ideas, let’s hear them. But if they have no ideas or policies except obstruction, they should step aside and let others lead,” Mr. Bush said to thunderous applause from more than 5,000 supporters. And there was more; The president, who has spent the last several months seeking consensus on his Social Security reform package and reaching out to Democrats with non-confrontational rhetoric, said opposition party leaders are pursuing “the philosophy of the stop sign, the agenda of the road block, and our country and our children deserve better.” “Political parties that choose the path of obstruction will not gain the trust of the American people,” he said at the event dubbed “The 2005 President’s Dinner."” Lets hear more of this please...

Reuters is at it again...

Image
I wonder why Reuters chose this picture to run of President Bush at the 2005 President's Dinner? Probably because he has a nice smile, yeah thats it, he has a nice smile...

Finally, somebody shows some backbone!

Ha! It's about damn time! Tempers flared when Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., accused Amnesty International of endangering the lives of Americans in uniform by referring to the prison at Guantanamo Bay as a "gulag." Sensenbrenner didn't allow the Amnesty representative, Chip Pitts, to respond until Nadler raised a "point of decency." Exactly!

Trespassing, well I guess they are!

Since the US government isn't doing enough about illegal immigrants some creativity is required. A civil rights group criticized the move, saying state officials were overstepping their boundaries and suggested the spate of citations were motivated by ethnic profiling. Of course they would. Can't let a good idea do some good now can we.

You can't make this stuff up...

John Kerry supposedly signed SF 180 that authorizes release of ALL of his records, something the Republicans and to some extent the media has been asking him to do since he announced his candidacy for president. But now controversy surrounds whether he really did release ALL his records, a portion of them, or a select few of them. And some even suggest he may not have even filled out the form correctly. Unbelievable. This is all Kerry's doing. Of course Kerry's is the proud owner of four "D's" from Yale so he probably doesn't need any help. Seriously, this is all very amusing and shocking considering that Kerry is apparently planning on running again for president in 2008 and is still allowing this issue to linger on and on. We need to see Kerry's SF 180 since there is a section on the form that allows for releasing only certain years instead of everything.

So which is it?

The Washington Post says this; Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Thursday played down the idea of closing the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, saying such a move would raise questions about what would happen to the prisoners. But yet MSNBC says this; BRUSSELS, Belgium - Are Guantanamo Bay's days numbered as a U.S. military prison camp? Comments from both President Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld seemed to point in that direction, with Rumsfeld noting Thursday that he'd rather have detainees imprisoned by their home countries.

Are the Germans really buying/watching crap like this?

A German TV program/movie recently portrayed the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the WTC as a Bush administration plot for oil. According to the plot, which was seen by approximately 7 million Germans, the dead man had been trained to be one of the September 11 pilots but was left behind, only to be tracked down and killed by CIA or FBI assassins. The woman, who says in the program that the September 11 attacks were instigated by the Bush family for oil and power, then is targeted, presumably to silence her. The drama concludes with the German detectives accepting the truth of her story as she eludes the U.S. government hit men and escapes to safety in an unnamed Arab country. Aside from the fact that oil now costs more than ever, the German people, well some of them, actually believe this kind a black helicopter conspiracy theory crap.

Whoops...

Disgraced former NY Times editor made this statement back in August 2004 in an article for the Washington Post ; One highly imperfect but salient way to do so is at the level of campaign tactics. Does anyone in America doubt that Kerry has a higher IQ than Bush? I'm sure the candidates' SATs and college transcripts would put Kerry far ahead. Yet, at this point in the campaign, Bush deserves an A or a high B -- instead of a gentleman's C -- when it comes to neutralizing Kerry's knowledge advantage. Well as noted here those college grades and an analysis of the two's IQ shows something a little different.

Now thats not what I heard Bush say...

Bush Open To Possibly Closing Gitmo Camp Somehow the AP jumps to that conclusion from this answer to a question from Neil Cavuto about shutting down Gitmo; We're exploring all alternatives as to how best to do the main objective, which is to protect Ameri ca And of course they can't pass up the opportunity to dredge up the bogus Quran stories from the last few weeks; The Pentagon disclosed last week that U.S. guards or interrogators at Guantanamo kicked, stepped on and splashed urine on the Quran. That followed an earlier report in Newsweek, later retracted, that U.S. investigators had confirmed that a guard had deliberately flushed a prisoner's Quran in a toilet. The White House blamed that report for violent protests in Muslim nations. The urine story details are here with the usual anti-American slant; On March 25, a detainee complained to guards that "urine came through an air vent" and splashed on him and his Quran. A guard admitted he was at fault, but a r

Interesting article about job growth under Bush, yes growth...

Although it is not widely known there are two job surveys taken each month. There is debate over which is more accurate. Here is an article that defines the two and reports some interesting facts, one of them being this; First off, the Bush years [his first term] ended with more Americans working than ever before. I betcha you haven't heard that reported by any of the mainstream media. The rest of the article is interesting as well. It's a bit heavy on numbers but if you can get through it you may learn something.

Now wait a minute, isn't he a really smart guy?

So all during the election all we heard was how smart John Kerry is . That his IQ was so much higher than President Bush's, which turned out to not be true anyway . The media delighted in reporting what an intellectual lightweight the President was by pointing out every mangled sentence he spoke and at the same time reminding us how high above it all John Kerry was. And so now Kerry has finally released the rest of his records, well almost all of them, and we come to find out this ; The transcript shows that Kerry's freshman-year average was 71. He scored a 61 in geology, a 63 and 68 in two history classes, and a 69 in political science. His top score was a 79, in another political science course. Another of his strongest efforts, a 77, came in French class That's four D's for those not in the know... And then there's this tid-bit; In 1999, The New Yorker published a transcript indicating t hat Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years

Deeply disturbing...

So upsetting I can only link to Powerline ...

Sure seems related, but thats just me I guess...

Nice article from the AP today... Body Part Falls From Plane, Lands in Backyard Tuesday, June 07, 2005 NEW YORK — A body part apparently fell from the wheel well of a plane coming in for a landing on Tuesday at John F. Kennedy Airport (search) and landed in a suburban backyard, authorities said. More remains were found on a South African Airways (search) flight after it landed at Kennedy, said Tony Ciavolella, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Police suspect the remains were that of a male stowaway, the spokesman said. He would not confirm that the incidents at the airport and Long Island were related, saying, "It's still under investigation." Messages left with South African Airways were not immediately returned. Police in Nassau County (search) received a call at 10:51 a.m. about a body part found in the backyard of a house. It apparently had hit the roof of a garage and bounced to the ground, said Officer Thomas Blanchard. The South Afric
