AP "slaps" the President...
Well not really, but they claim that the House has slapped President Bush by voting 238-187 to limit the Patriot Act. And what are they limiting you may ask? The House has decided in their infinite wisdom to limit the ability of the FBI "to peek at library records and bookstore sales slips" which to this point in the life of the Patriot Act the FBI has yet to do. So basically nothing has really changed.

Given these facts, and given that there has never yet been a case where section 215 has been used to obtain library or bookstore records, today's vote was symbolic, at best. What it symbolized was certain House members' commitment to "civil liberties," which, however, were never threatened.
